New Game Tuesday, Games Releasing 2/4*-2/11

This week brought an interesting surprise with an unscheduled stealth release of Apex Legends. Turns out, Respawn wasn't working on Titanfall 3 afterall and gave us a universe spinoff with the free to play Apex Legends. We all see series Blazblue get more love on Switch. Fans of the God Eater franchise can look forward to the much anticpated third installment. More great games drop this week so check it out below!
"New Game Tuesday" showcases major game releases from Tuesday to the following Monday. Scroll down to see if any of the major releases appeal to you!
1. Apex Legends
Release Date: 2/4* (Launched on Monday as a surprise reveal/release)
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Developer: Respawn Entertainment
Publisher: EA
I have much to say about this entire story / reveal, so stay tuned for a full article about Apex Legends, once I actually get a chance to play this new game. For now, here are the details: Apex is set in the Titanfall universe, but is a Battle Royale/Hero Shooter. Think Overwatch meets fortnite. (All the more proof Overwatch could add a BR mode)
It is free to play, and available right now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and already over a million people tried in the first 8 hours. Could this be the big hit of 2019? At the low low cost of free, it is of course worth a try. More to come once I play tonight.
2. Blazblue Centralfiction (Switch)
Release Date: 2/7
Platforms: (New on) Switch, PS4, PS3, PC
Developer/Publisher: Arc System Works
The popular Blazblue series is getting another opportunity in the spotlight with Cenrtalfiction launching on Nintendo Switch. This anime fighter has its following and looks to bolster the Switch's need for more fighters!
3. God Eater 3
Release Date: 2/8
Platforms: PS4, PC
Developer: Marvelous First Studio
Publisher: Bandai Namco
The third installment in the beloved anime game franchise "god eater is almost upon us. By the same publisher Bandai, people who are hotly waiting for the much anticipated Code Vein to ever arrive (starting to lose faith it will) may be able to fill a anime RPG niche with God Eater 3? With so many major games launching in February, this may be worth noticing so that it doesn't fall under the radar.
4. Monster Energy Supercross 2: The Official Video Game
Release Date: 2/8
Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4
Developer/Publisher: Milestone SRL
Let's be honest here. The first "monster energery supercross the official video game" was more than a mouthful, it was also a average game that really is confuzing as to why it exists. When so much product placement branding exists in a title, it may be unsurprising when it is little more than a low effort cash grab. If this game was 10$ and you really enjoyed motorcycles, maybe it'd be worth it. But at full price, and exactly a year later sequel, I am hesitiant in the value of the sequel. Purchase with caution.
5. The Occupation
Release Date: 2/5
Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4
Developer: White Paper Games
The Occupation is a single player game where you play as a journalist who is a whistleblower, and the various actions of the story. This game looks to be an interesting journey and may be worth a visit in a busy February.
6. Riot Civil Unrest (New on Console)
Release Date: 2/5
Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nitendo Switch, (New on Console)
Publisher: Merge Games
Developer: Leonard Menchiari, IV Productions
Merge Games decribes Riot Civil Unrest as a "real-time riot simulator that places the player right in the heart of some of the world's most fractious clashes" The retro art style of the game provides a unique perspective and the unusual premise makes this game worthy of a look for anyone looking for an interesting indie style game this month.
