New Game Tuesday, Games Releasing 2/12-2/18

This week is a huge week for game releases, as four major hotly anticipated titles are releasing on the same day. Jump Force, Metro Exodus, Crackdown 3, and Far Cry New Dawn will all be competing for players time in a release window that is already is going to be saturated thanks to the growing success of the name we might as well get used to hearing in 2019, APEX LEGENDS. Having doubled the twitch viewers of titan Fortnite, and already hit the 25 million player mark, these upcoming titles are going to see fierce competition.

"New Game Tuesday" showcases major game releases from Tuesday to the following Monday. Scroll down to see if any of the major releases appeal to you!

1. Crackdown 3

Release Date: 2/15

Platforms: Xbox One, PC

Developer: Sumo Digital, Reagent Games, Cloudgine, Certain Affinity, Ruffian Games

Publisher: Xbox Game Studios

My prediction for the best selling game of the "big four" releasing this mid February is Crackdown 3. Crackdown 3 has been anticipated the longest and has seen a semi lengthy development life. The game was announced way back in 2014, with a supposed release in 2016. Such a long multi-year delay for a AAA game is uncommonly long, but at last it finally arrives. From the fun and crazy art style, to buz words like "cloud destruction" this game may just be the hit Xbox One exclusive that Microsoft has been needing.

2. Far Cry New Dawn

(Trailer Contains Spoilers for Far Cry 5 Ending)

Release Date: 2/15

Platforms: Xbox One, PS4, PC

Developer/Publisher: Ubisoft

Their are two prices you can sell a AAA game for at release: Free or 60$. Any ammount inbetween is reserved for indie developers or for B-rated quickly developed games. This is just an unspoken rule in gaming. There is a percieved "lower quality" to games sold for less than 60$. Far Cry New Dawn is launching at an unusal 40$ price point. Game Infinite gave Far Cry 5 high praise with a 9/10 score, and I personally thought it was super fun. Ubisoft has had a shacky relationship with the annual release concept in recent years, with games series such as Assassin's creed suffering from rushed developmenty cycle. Is this lower 40$ price an immediate addmission of lowered quality of this sequel? Is Ubisoft trying to find a solution to annual releases, by releasing games with similar maps and assets? Since New Dawn takes place in the same albeit altered map, with a similar system, this could be looked at as a "large stand alone DLC" more like Blood Dragon than a full sequel. I trully hope New Dawn is a great game, and worthy successor to Far Cry 5, but the quick release timing and the price point has me press pause.

3. Jump Force

Release Date: 2/15

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Developer: Spike Chunsoft

Publisher: Bandai Namco

I'm not going to lie. When this was announced during E3, I had no idea what it was. My anime ignorant self barely knew enough that the various anime characters appearing on screen were from different anime. Over the past months, I have learned more about Jump Force, and for avid Anime fans this looks to be one of the best fighters and crossovers to date.

4. Metro Exodus

Release Date: 2/15

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4

Developer: 4A Games

Publisher: Deep Silver, Koch Media

Weeks ahead of release 4A games and Deep Silver have already seen minor controversy as the decision to launch exclusively on the new Epic Games Store went over poorly with gamers. This is not the first AAA title to support the Epic Games Store exclusively at launch, but the lengthy pre-order period on steam and semi-last minute switch is most likely the cause of the unrest. Gamers have taken to blasting negative reviews of Metro games on Steam in revolt. Hopefully the PC unrest wont affect the games overall sales. Metro of course is also launching on the Xbox and PS4 normally. This game looks to be a beautiful and well made next installment in the Metro series. I can't wait to blast mutant creatures in apocalyptic Russia.

5. NekoPara Vol 2

Release Date: 2/14

Platforms: PC, (New on) Switch

Developer: Neko Works

Publisher: CFK

Anime? Fan Service? Lots of cringey text? If these are your thing, head over to Steam or the Eshop for NekoPara Vol 2.

6. Dragons Dawn of New Riders

Release Date: 2/5

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nitendo Switch, (New on Console)

Publisher: Merge Games

Developer: Leonard Menchiari, IV Productions

Let's be honest. Movie license games almost always suck. I've never even heard of this developer. My expectation for Dragons Dawn of New Riders are almost as high as they were for ShaqFu 2...

Other games include indie titles Degrees of Separation hitting console, as well as The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince coming to Switch. As always, stay tuned here on Game Infinite News for the latest gaming news! Check back next week for New Game Tuesday!
