New Game Tuesday, Games Releasing 4/16 - 4/22

With Star Wars Celebration and Midwest Gaming Classic right behind me, it was almost easy to forget there are new games dropping this week! Well, Almost easy. I am personally excited for World War Z, based on its pricepoint, graphics, movie license, and early impressions, it probably wont be cracking anyone's top ten list, but the goofy concept, kill of the hill with zombies, and just massive fluid-like hoards look amazingly fun. Final Fantasy Fans rocking a Switch or Xbox One get one more game to add to their library with FF X|X-2 Remaster. Cuphead is also heading to Nintendo Switch as Microsoft brings the title to its first non-microsoft platform, furthering Microsoft's relaxing stance on exclusivity and growing relationship with Nintendo.

"New Game Tuesday" showcases major game releases from Tuesday to the following Monday. Scroll down to see if any of the major releases appeal to you!

1. World War Z (The Game)

Release Date: 4/16

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Publisher: MadDog Games, Focus Home Interactive

Developer: Saber Interactive

It's launching at 39$; it's a movie license game; it's the 185739374th zombie game; you've never heard of the developer; and admittedly the graphics looks somewhat poor. You have every reason to skip this game, and forget it exists. You have every reason to think it will be bad, and it may end up being bad. However, for some reason this King of the Hill with Zombies that are more like a swarm of bees just excites me. They created a custom enging to drive the swarm of zombies, so at the very least it will look like nothing else we have seen in a game. The zombies will act more like a raging river than the individual walkers we always see. I usually roll my eyes at Zombie games as I am frankly sick of the genre personally, but this is just different enough to pull even me back in.

2. Cuphead (Switch)

Release Date: 4/18

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch* (New in April)

Developer: Studio MDHR

Cuphead was a cult hit when it hit PC and Xbox One. It made its name not just for its unique super old school cartoon graphics, but for being what Darksouls would be if Darksouls was a cartoony side scrolling shooter. This game is HARD AF. In an era where debate about "difficulty in video games" has become more heated with people arguing about accessbility, diversity, and accomplishments thanks to the recently popular Sekiro Shadows Die twice; someone thought it'd be perfect time to bring the insanity of Cuphead to the tiny joycons. I couln't beat Cuphead on my xbox, I definitely wont be able to beat it on my Switch! What are you thoughts on accessibility/playability of video games vs developer artistry and challenge. If you want cartoony torture, oplay Cuphead on Switch

3. Final Fantasy X | X-2 Remaster (Xbox and Switch)

Release Date: 4/16* New on Switch and Xbox One

Platforms: Xbox one, PS4, PC, Switch

Publisher/Developer: Square Enix

Final Fantasy fans can look forward to the remaster of X | X-2 coming to new platforms with it hitting Switch and Xbox One. If you are looking for an new way to get into the massive FF backlog, now is the time!
