"New Game Tuesday" showcases some major game releases from Tuesday to the following Monday. Scroll down to see if any of the major releases appeal to you!
1. super mario maker 2
Release Date: 6/28
Platforms: Nintendo Switch
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
It finally arrives. When the Switch was announced I made a list of the games I wanted to see ported or remastered in some way for the Switch from the Wii and Wii U generations that I largely skipped. I figured if the best games I wanted to play made it onto Switch it would overcome skipping them. Games like Captain Toad, MarioKart, SuperMario U, Bayonetta 2, and many more have come and gone, but one last game remained. I really wanted to play Super Mario Maker. Now that a new and improved sequel is coming, we get an even better Switch tailored experience. Many are saying this game has near endless possibilities and playtime. One of the first video games I ever played was the original Super Mario Bros Deluxe on my GameBoy Coloro; I just can't wait to start reliving my childhood but this time building my own levels from that timeless game. Super Mario Maker 2 is also giving us themes across multiple mario games, including the newest 2.5D mode. Get your hands on Super Mario Maker 2 on June 28 only on Nintendo Switch.
2. The Sinking city
Release Date: 5/27
Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch* later
Developer: Frogwares
Publisher: Bigben Interactive
Do you want a dark cinematic mystery? Do you want to explore creepy locations with what feels like a dark noire mixed with inception? Strap on you 20's detective look and prepare for The Sinking City. Something about this game intrigues me from its art style to creepy unsettling locations. This open world investigative lovecraft game may be a sleeper victory for 2019.
3. judgement
Release Date: 6/25
Platforms: PS4
Developer/Publisher: Sega
The Yakuza spinoff has certainly had an interesting journey so far. The game has already released in Japan so this is a significanly delayed West release. The most interesting thing to note is that the main actor has since been arrested for cocaine usage. Sega has since replaced the actor. We assume that since none of the imagery has changed and neither has the West release date, this had to be a voice actor used. Such a last minute switch to a new actor without a release delay could very well have a negative impact on the quality of the final product so definitely beware before buying.
4. Bloodstained ritual of the night *Now on Switch
Release Date: 6/18
Platforms: Xbox One, PC, PS4, Now Nintendo Switch*
Developer: ArtPlay, WayForward Technology, Disco Co, Monobit
I didn't know much about this game until doing some research, and this Castlevania spiritual successor looks to be a fun vampire themed action platformer. If you liked the Castlevania franchise, or gothic vampire inspired art styles, this game may be appealing to you.
5. nekopara vol 3
Release Date: 6/27
Platforms: PC, Switch, PS4
Developer: NEKO WORKS
Publisher: Sekai Project
Nekopara Vol 3 is an adult visual novel releasing soon on console after sometime on PC. The game features two heroines Cinnamon and Maple who are felines which is about all anyone needs to know about this wacky anime game. Check it out if that is your thing.
