*UPDATE 10:PM CST*

I research and prep for New Game Tuesday to have it ready to go the day before going live. I look up and verify game release information, check for last minute delays, and check multiple stores for variations. Sometimes games are delayed last minute, and in the instance of today sometimes games get surprise same day releases or updates that could not have been forseen. Unexpected releases are better than delays! Today brought two unexpected releases that didn't make it into NGT initially. The first one deserved way more fan fair than it got. Journey is widely considered to be one of the greatest indie games of all time, winning GOTY's back in its 2012 debut. It is also in my personal top 10 games of all time. This true hall of fame must play came out of no where with a new home to play it on. Journey is now on mobile, for an insanely good $4.99. Honestly if you haven't played this game on PS3, PS4, or most recently on PC, you must play it here.

One the flip side of greatness...Anthem updated with its new Cataclysm event. After months of delay, no firm release date, and Bioware going completely dark amidst its controversy. A lot has been written about Anthem, a LOT. Even more controversy has come out about Anthem since Gi's review and subsequent impressions of the news that Anthem was quickly made in 16 months. Anthem's twitch and player counts have all but been snuffed out. My first two questions are, is Cataclysm any good, Is it even worth re-installing and updating Anthem on my PS4? Secondly, even if it is good, does it even matter? Will players care enough by now to return. I was optimistic about Anthem, I gave them enough benefit of the doubt to a point where the only reason I'm going to try it for purposes of reviewing for Gi's followers. If you feel it will be worth trying out, it is available now.

1. age of wonders planetfall

Release Date: 8/6

Platforms: PC, Xbox, PS4

Developer: Triumph Studios

Publisher: Paradox Interactive

If you are into the RTS genre than the new Planetfall may be right up your alley. I haven't played an RTS in ages but for some it is their favorite genre. While this genre is most popular on PC, it is also coming to Xbox and PS4. It is being described as a cross between XCOM and Civilization. This space age strategy game has quite a lot of excitement preceding it so gamers can check this out this week.

2. Pilars of eternity (new on Switch)

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC, *New on Nintendo Switch

Developer: Obsidian Entertainment

Another PC favorite, Pilllars of Eternity is making its way to the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch is proving to be excellent location for traditionally pc focused games and genres. Last years Pillars of Eternity 2 received positive reviews so for fans of the franchise they can replay the first one this time on the go.

3. sword art online fatal bullet (New on Switch)

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC, *New on Nintendo Switch

Developer/Publisher: Bandai Namco

Sword Art Online, thanks to its Anime origins definitely has a huge cult following making it one of the most popular anime based video games series. Fatal Bullet was a unique take on the franchise bringing projectile combat to a traditionally melee focused combat series. Now Fatal Bullet is hitting Switch so you can take your anime action frenzy on the go.

4. soulcalibur VI - Cassandra DLC

Platforms: Xbox One, PS4, PC,

Developer/Publisher: Bandai Namco

Last years SoulCalibur VI received positive reviews from critics, fans, and Game Infinite Reviews as well. I really enjoyed this newest installment in the fighting series. The combat and character customization were simply amazing. The addition of 2B made the game even better with a super fun cross over. Now the addition of fan favorite Cassandra may be enough to bring back fans who hadn't played the game in a while. While she is similar to an existing character Sophitia in both appearance and play-style, she still remains a favorite that might be worth checking out.

5. metal wolf chaos xd

Release Date: 8/6

Platforms: PC, Xbox, PS4

Developer: FromSoftware

Publisher: Devolver Digital

No you're not going blind. This game looks a little removed from time. If your first impression was that this game belongs on a PS2 or Gamecube...you are not alone. That was also my first impression of the game. That may have something to do with this being a "updated" version of the 2004 version. However, graphics aside there was a certain nostalgic charm to the chaotic low-rez gameplay that reminded me of countless hours of childhood games. Besides, before FromSoftware became known for Dark Souls and their impossibly hard gameplay, apparently they made this? Who knew. Enjoy some pre-souls era FromSoftware while we wait for Eleven Ring. I'm interested to see how the reviews turn out for this game because it looks more fun than its polish implies.
