New Game Tuesday, Games Releasing 10/8 - 10/14

This week's NGT is a calm before the storm. A large host of smaller lesser known titles are getting out before several of this years biggest names start dropping at the end of October. Indie gems like Indivisible and Concrete Genie promise to deliver some fun artistic experiences, and for racing fans, GRID (2019) and Asphalt 9 landing on Nintendo Switch promise to fill our high octane needs. Fans of the beloved Trine series can also look forward to Trine 4 finally arriving.

"New Game Tuesday" showcases some major game releases from Tuesday to the following Monday. Scroll down to see if any of the major releases appeal to you!

1. asphalt 9 legends (New on Switch)

Release Date: 10/8

Platforms: Mobile, PC, New on Switch

Developer: Gameloft

Publisher: Gameloft

I played the crap out of Asphalt 8, because to date it is one of the best if not the best racing franchise on mobile. Despite being a AAA genre that seemed ripe for early adoption on mobile because it is certainly one of the easier genres to adapt to motion and touch screen controls over say fast paced shooters, some of the biggest names in racing have larglely ignored the mobile landscape. It wasn't until recently that Mario Kart or Need for Speed attempted it. For years this void has left a big name for the mobile Asphalt series to thrive. I played it constantly, because the graphics and gameplay were super smooth. I do have one complaint in that they have fully embraced the freemium model with aggressive micro-transactions and pay to win mechanics. With boosters and Faster cars locked behind pay walls, it often crosses a line I don't like to support. I wish they would transition to a cosmetic only system. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind supporting high quality free games likes Asphalt, but they have been known to have 300$ cars (yes real money 300$) and these cars weren't always harmless cosmetics they had gameplay differences. Some cars in the same class (different classes can't race each other) would differ in top speeds of over 100MPH! I haven't put too much time into 9, but it is very very similar to 8. This is a game where if you don't plan to spend money or plan to grind ALOT. You will lose a lot, simply because other cars are faster. However, despite these greedy micro transactions, they are still optional, and doesn't include time based walls. You can play unimpeded and it will just be hard. I'm excited for this series to make its way to Switch.

2. trine 4

Indivisible is a Action RPG and showcases a beautiful hand drawn art style with super fun platform 2D gameplay. It is made by the creators of popular fun artsy fighting series Skullgirls, and tells the story of Ajina a fearlesss heroine on a classic save the world storyline.

4. GRID (2019)

This week is a treasure trove for racing fans with not one but two racing game updates! Popular racing series GRID is the tenth game in the TOCA series and 4th bearing the Grid name, returning with this reboot title of the same name and so far looks pretty fun. Get your adrenaline pumping on the streets with this new racing title.

5. concrete genie

Release Date: 10/8

Platforms: PS4

This beaitufl artsy PS4 exclusive looked super fun back during its initial reveal back in 2017 at Sony's Media Showcase during Paris Games Week. It is super colorful and meant to spark a more imaginative and artistic experience over some of Sony's more action high octane exclusives like Last of Us or Spiderman.

6. the alliance alive HD remaster
