New Game News - JANUARY 2021

(New Game Tuesday is now New Game News! When New Game Tuesday shifted to a monthly format, I still had it come out on Tuesdays. However, as sometimes the first Tuesday of the month fell late into the month, some games were already out. Game Infinite has recently gone through a massive update in visual design. Our new uniform look brings a design aesthetic across posts regardless of news, game content, or community content. With this redesign, I am updating NGT into New Game News, which will come on the first of the month, to better prep our followers for major and exciting games coming out each month. This article will focus on new game releases, not necessarily games that launched previously but have their next-gen versions are arriving, but may include major game seasonal updates or expansions.)

THANK GOD 2021 IS FINALLY HERE. While there are a few games actually releasing in January 2021, it is mostly because the curse is lifted at Midnight right? That's how curses work. Whatever cosmic glitch was happening with 2020, it is over right? January 2021 contains two anticipated titles that moved out of the way of the behemoth that was Cyberpunk 2077. Launch debacle aside, Cyberpunk was always going to sell millions and both Medium and Everspace 2 moved their release dates to January. Hitman 3 is the anticipated sequel to the beloved franchise in the careful hands of IOI, and the cult hit Scott Pilgrim V the World complete edition is also coming!

"New Game News" showcases some major game releases of the month! Scroll down to see if any of the major releases appeal to you!

1. Hitman 3

Release Date: 1/20

Platforms: PC, Stadia, PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, (Coming to Nintendo Switch via Cloud)

Developer: IO Interactive

Publisher: IO Interactive

Hitman 3 is coming. After some were worried of the future of the franchise, IOI proved they never needed Square Enix after the split with their successful launch of Hitman 2. This however is the first Hitman Square never touched at all and will prove that IOI can truly go it alone.

2. The Medium

Release Date: 1/28

Platforms: Xbox Series X, PC

Developer: Bloober Team

Publisher: Bloober Team

I am very excited for Medium as it will be the first "next-gen" only game I will ever play. I have recently joined the "PC Master Race" after being a long time console-snob and xbox fan boy. I always thought I would just upgrade my PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, but a combination of a weird long story glitch with my EA account, and the complete inability to find the next generation consoles, have pushed me into a generation I never thought I would go. That being said, Medium is notable in that it is one of the first games coming to Series X that is NOT available on the actual Xbox One. This tells us the developers are integrating power-intensive features into the CORE of the game that makes it unable to be downgraded to the One. This tells me it might tax my pc but also give a beautiful next-gen experience.

3. Everspace 2

Release Date: January 2021

Platforms: PC, PS4, and Xbox One, (Backwards Compatible on Next-gen)

Developer: Rockfish Games

Publisher: Rockfish Games

I never played Everspace, and honestly I don't know why this game escaped my radar for so long. It looks right up my alley. I am a total space nerd, and anything set in space appeals to me. This is why I am excited for this new space combat shooter. It was delayed into 2021 for no reason other than to get out of the release window of Cyberpunk 2077.

4. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition

Release Date: 1/14

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Next Gen Backwards Compatible, Nintendo Switch, PC, Stadia

Developer: Ubisoft

Publisher: Ubisoft

I admit; I know nothing about Scott Pilgrim. I never saw the movie. I don't even know if it is a parody or if he is some kind of One Punch Man. I will probably die never knowing anything about this almighty Pilgrim...and that is ok. All I know is this franchise has a cult following that is excited for this complete edition...so therefore it makes the list.

As always, stay tuned here on Game Infinite News for the latest gaming news! Check back next month for New Game Tuesday!
