Every Upcoming Star Wars Game We Know About So Far...

I love Star Wars. I mean, who doesn't' love Star Wars? I'm not sure what people who haven't seen Star Wars even do with all that spare time and mental energy. If you also love Star Wars as much as we do, you should check out our Star Wars dedicated page Star Wars Infinite, modded by our amazing talented mods at Nerdherder.
It has been such a dry spell of a decade for what could be and should be one of the biggest and most successful names in gaming, Star Wars, has been such a desert for games. EA has had a exclusivity deal that is finally coming to an end, because they just don't seem to have any interest in making Star Wars games. They don't even want to make Battle Front 3 and only allowed Jedi Fallen Order to exist to reward Respawn Entertainment for their success with Apex Legends. Having cancelled more Star Wars projects than they've released, Greedy Corp EA seemingly doesn't know how much money Star Wars games could have been making them this whole time. Thankfully, the Mouse has seen the light and is ending the exclusivity. Now, suddenly we have more Star Wars games on the way in the next few years than we've gotten in the past ten. With everything we now know, here are every confirmed, teased, or strongly rumored Star Wars game on the way that we know about so far.
Star Wars: Hunters
Status: Coming Soon
Release Date: 2022
Developer: Zynga
Platform: iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch
Star Wars Hunters is an upcoming hero battle game set in the Star Wars universe with what looks to be an entirely new cast of heroes and characters set to battle each other in a MOBA like arena. Gameplay has been pretty hush hush until we finally got a gameplay trailer for this game recently. The characters look very interesting as we have interestingly enough a Jedi Droid...and Jawa's standing on top of each other. I will admit that I am a little nervous for the game being that it is a free to play game, and launching on mobile and switch only. This could mean predatory micro-transactions that will make the Battlefront 2 debacle look tame in comparison. Developer Zynga is not exactly known for their consumer friendly game economies. Hopefully this game will launch with a fair and cosmetic focused monetization system. Hunters is coming in 2022.
Untitled Ubisoft Open World Star Wars Game

Status: Confirmed
Release Date: TBA
Developer: Ubisoft Massive Entertainment
Ubisoft was one of the very first games announced under the new direction of Lucasfilm Games and EA's exclusivity deal ending. Headed by Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft says they gathered some of the most experienced developers and talents in the industry to make this game. It will also use the the Snowdrop engine. The game is said to be an open world game, a first for Star Wars.
We don't know much about it, but rumors include it could be a High Republic era or a Mandalorian/Bounty Hunter game. Perhaps it could be multi-planet like Jedi Fallen Order but each planet is open world.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Status: Coming Soon
Release Date: 2022
Developer: TT Games, Traveller's Tales
Platform: PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC
With multiple delays, it is hard to believe that this will probably be one of the next Star Wars games we will be able to play as it seems like this game may never release. It was supposed to be out in 2020, and with 2022 approaching, release doesn't feel any closer. However, this game promises to be one of the biggest and best Lego games yet, with hundreds of characters, multiple planets and locations, as players are able to play across all 9 films, a first in Star Wars gaming history. Even if you are not a "Lego Games fan", someone like me who hasn't played them, this might be a perfect time to jump in and experience the saga in a fun new way.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake
Status: Confirmed
Release Date: TBA
Developer: Aspyr Media
Platforms: PS5 Timed Exclusive
Knights of the Old Republic is regarded by many to be one of the greatest star wars games, if not games of all time. So I will admit I was surprised when the monumental task of remaking that game fell to a developer you probably haven't heard of, Aspyr. Aspyr is most known for their remasters. Trusting such a gamer-sacred task to an untested developer is a big risk. That being said, as long as they are given the resources and talent, Aspyr seems passionate about Star Wars and wanting to bring KOTOR to the current era.
Star Wars Eclipse - Quantic Dream Rumored Game

(Not Game Art- High Republic Reference)
Status: Strong Rumors/Insider Leaks
Release Date: TBA
Developer: Quantic Dream
Platforms: TBA
One of the most strongly rumored Star Wars games with the most leaks and evidence is that Quantic Dream is working on a Star Wars game. While not confirmed, there is too many leaks and evidence for it to be completely false. Sources suggest the game will be see in the High Republic Era, and won't be a traditional Quantic game with a overly cinematic focus, but a more traditional game set in Star Wars. Rumors suggest the working title is Star Wars Eclipse. Hopefully we will get an official teaser/reveal soon.
Star Wars Battlefront 3's Failed DICE Pitch...Not too late?

Status: Still Possible
Release Date: ???
Developer: ???
Platforms: TBA
I will admit, this one is quite a bit of a stretch, but I have a theory on it so hear me out. A year ago or so I would have called Battlefront 3 an inevitable certainty. If there is one thing EA loves most it is easy semi-annual yearly franchises that can be cranked out for annual sales. While BF2 had controversy at launch, why not make a 3rd game? Battlefront 3 would print money, and EA loves money.
However, it has recently come out that DICE pitched Battlefront 3 to EA and EA shockingly said NO!? Why you might ask? Sources say that EA was unwilling to pay the 20% licensing fee to Disney for Star Wars Battlefront, and ordered DICE to make a new Battlefield game instead. EA said that they would need to sell 20% more Battlefronts than Battlefields to make the same money. Now, I am baffled by their laughable arrogance to think that their Battlefield name is worth 80% that of Star Wars. I am convinced a good Star Wars game could double battlefield, let along sell 20% more.
That being said, I want to look at what is happening now at DICE and EA and speculate that BF3 might just still be on the table after all. Let's look at the events. DICE clearly is tired of making Battlefield and wants to take a break. We don't know exactly when this BF3 pitch took place but Battlefield V and 2042 have been utter disasters. Both games were critically and financially panned. EA has since replaced and shuffled DICE's leadership to include Respawn director Vince Zampella, co-founder of Apex Legends and Titanfall, will oversee the Battlefield franchise going forward. EA has also stated that DICE will now no longer be the sole developer behind the Battlefield franchise.
Now that other developers might make future Battlefields. Now that new leadership is at DICE. Now that it is more clear than ever that DICE needs a break from Battlefield as they are clearly tired of that series. Perhaps, now EA will be open to listening to a pitch for the game DICE actually wants to make. DICE isn't turning out good battlefields now, and with other developers potentially making future Battlefields, the situation may just be lined up for BF3 to be revisited. Perhaps the public disaster that is 2042...may just lead to a huge change that could lead to BF3 still happening after all. EA needs to let DICE just make the game they want, and the results will be better when they let devs make the games they want. It worked out for Jedi Fallen Order, it might work out for BF3.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2

Status: All But Confirmed
Release Date: TBA
Developer: Respawn Entertainment
Platforms: TBA
Jedi Fallen Order 2 is all but confirmed at this point. JFO was a fiancial and critical success for EA and Respawn. It was a rare EA game beloved by fans, and made them considerable money. While no official teaser or reveal exists, it has been all but assumed at EA that it is coming, with indirect references in earnings calls. Respawn is EA's golden goose, and in the rare position with the developer to just seemingly make what they want to due to their high favor with the publisher. Apex Legends high success allowed this game to exist in the first place with a publisher that typically was against that type of game. EA doesn't like to admit when they are wrong, but will allow a sequel if it will continue to make them money.
EA's / LucasFilm Games "Multiple Star Wars Projects" Comment
Status: Possible
Release Date: ???
Developer: ???
Platforms: ???
This is one that is a little more vague, and I mention it for the fun of discussion. When Disney announced the end of the era of EA Star Wars exclusivity, and Star Wars' arrival to other studios, EA was quick to voice their "continued support" for the franchise. Disney was clear to point out they weren't ending their relationship with EA, they simply were now in an open marriage. While there was a lot of PR Speak, one thing stands out among the rest. EA and Lucasfilm Games admitted that they have multiple Star Wars projects with EA "still in the pipeline". Since the only EA Star Wars game we know anything about for sure is Jedi Fallen Order 2, this comment heavily implies more EA Star Wars games could still arrive? While EA doesn't exactly have a good track record for actually releasing their multiple on-going Star Wars projects, it is interesting to know that there are currently active Star Wars projects "plural" we don't know about yet.
