I discovered this one thanks to wishlist Wednesday campaigns, and I hadn't heard of it yet before. My jaw dropped when I first saw the trailer. It gave me major No Man Sky / Starfield vibes. This first person adventure looks AAA in it's scope and graphical presentation. We get to explore this beautiful vast destroyed Earth in a airship. It looks incredible, and the trailer just got my HYPED. This one is one to watch.

4. SokoChess | GiFriends - Gi Trailer

Release Date: 8/12/22

Developer: Daisy Games

Confession time, I LOVE CHESS. I love chess variants. I am a sucker for any type of "chess-not chess" games! I have at least three chess variants on my phone right now. Chess is such a versatile foundation for game logic that many have asked, "what if... chess but this was different?" Maybe it is a game where the pieces are different, in different places, or have different goals. SokoChess is one of the games where the chess pieces of Rook and Pawn remain on an ever changing board, but now rooks are tasked with "pushing" pawns to select locations on the board. It is fun and I really enjoyed my time with it.

5. Hop for the Best (LIVE KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN) | GiFriends - Gi Trailer

Release Date: TBA

Developer: Splash Fire Games

Developer Description: "Hop For The Best is an indie clay-style platformer game in which you play as Forgy, an adorable little frog chasing hope for a better life."

Did my childhood memories of Frogger need a Claymation style revisit? Yes. Yes it did, because any game with frogs is a must try for thanks to that force of nostalgia, AND it comes with a super fun clever pun of a name so count me in. It has an active kickstarter so if you want to support the game you can do so here.

6. Kawaii Deathu Desu | GiFriends - Gi Trailer

Developer Description: "In Kawaii Deathu Desu, supernatural beings find themselves incarnated as cute japanese idols! Pick a supernatural idol and beat the hell out of - no pun intended - as many overzealous fans as you can in this addictive beat'em up as you work your way up to claim the throne of the underworld!"

We partnered with the amazingly talented team over at Pippin Games to feature not one, but THREE of their games from their fun catalog of anime inspired games. Kawaii Deathu Desu is first and we love the art style and concept of it. The gameplay, the pixel art style, and craziness all are super intriguing.

Wife Quest gets to turn the gaming trope of rescue the princess on its head with Mia off to rescue her husband instead! Another game from Pipping with an exciting and fun colorful art style. We really like this one too!

Developer Description: "Unique Tower Defense game. Mix different builds, Battle with different Soldiers, Experiment with big amount of perks. Parachute into the battlefield and use your strategy!"

We really enjoy the cartoon art style of Northend Tower Defense. I am also a sucker for all things tower defense, and this whimsical art style just promises fun. It is available now in early access.

Release Date: 2022

Developer Description: "Hijack Overdrive is a fast-paced action game where you steal enemy vehicles mid-combat to fight back. Jump from gunship to gunship in order to pilot your makeshift fleet through the enemy forces. It's a unique genre-mix of Platformer, Shoot-em-up, and a bit of Tower Defense."

We like the art style and over all retro nostalgic feel of Hijack Overdrive. The platforming ship hopping gameplay looks fun, and brings us back to some good ole classic hop and shoot-em-up fun. We can't wait to get our hands on this one.

11. Espresso Tycoon | GiFriends - Gi Trailer

Use the 3D coffee editor to create coffee recipes, order supplies, and collect rating points. Build the whole coffee business and complete all the missions!"

Espresso Tycoon is one of the moments where the idea alone, just the pitch excited me the first time I came across this. It is a coffee shop simulator, and I love coffee. It looks incredible, detailed, and well done. I honestly can't wait for this one. What could be just a simple top down sim, looks to have detailed environments and multiple camera angles. The build quality here promises to deliver a quality experience, greater than the "sim" genre typically might offer.

12. MegaBlasters! | GiFriends - Gi Trailer

MegaBlasters brings a nostalgic 2000"s era animation art style that really just evokes happy memories of a bright and colorful time period for animation.
