Indie Game Round Up - March 2022
Time for March Indie Game Round Up, and if you can put down dying in Elden Ring for 5 minutes, we want to tell you about how equally exciting the indie space is right now. We have some exiting game releases, and some things to definitely add to your wishlists. March's installment of Indie Game Round Up is proving to be one of our most exciting updates yet! This installment of IGRU has more already released games than any previous one yet, giving you the most games to go ahead and download right away! That doesn't mean to say we don't have some killer games to add to your most anticipated lists, as the rest really look incredibly promising.

1. AI-Kode
Release Date: TBA
Developer: ACE animation
Developer Description: "Aikode (or Ai-kode) is an action role-playing game (ARPG) Hack and Slash in which players take on the role of an android from the "Order" in search of the truth about the world around her."
AI-Kode is just an absolutely stunning 3D game that looks like a mainstream AAA title, and that is why we selected this beautiful game to spotlight in this month's promo background.. This game looks like something we would expect from a senior studio from the likes of something like a Square Enix title. The renders look impressive, and hopefully we will see more progress as time goes forward. It gives us major Platinum - Nier vibes, mixed with Cyberpunk aesthetics, and we love it. The game is slated to have a whopping 6 playable characters, with Aiko being the main. It also features varied combat with sword, gun, and scythe combat types. Ai-Kode is definitely one to watch for. Due to the scope of a game that looks like this, this one "could" be far out, but still deserves a spot on our wishlist. We will keep you apprised if we learn any updates!

Release Date: Available Now!
Developer: ThinkingStars
Publisher: Lightning Games
Steam Wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1368030/ANNO_Mutationem/
(Update march 2022: ANNO Mutationem is OUT! We are very excited to say we were selected for a review copy for ANNO Mutationem, and after how much we enjoyed the demo, we can't wait to bring our readers a more in depth review for the game ASAP.)
(Update Feb 2022: We featured ANNO: Mutationem in our first Indie Game Round Up, and around that time, the game was delayed from its December 2021 steam release window to TBA. Now, just recently we got word that the game is arriving right around the corner in March. We loved the demo, and can't wait to play the full game. Special shoutout to this epic game is in our February 2022 IGRU promo background.)
ANNO: Mutationem is a Cyberpunk world with a beautiful art style. I have played the demo and enjoyed the time so far. ANNO is an hybrid 2D/3D action-adventure game with RPG elements. For those of us who were disappointed by Cyberpunk 2077, this could be a game to scratch that itch.

(Press Kit Images)
Release Date: Spring 2022
Developer: Pixel Wrappers
We are very excited to say we were selected for a review copy for Classic Sport Driving, and we can't wait to try it out and share it with you all. We love racing games, and this classic nostalgia filled art style in Pixel Wrappers' Classic Sport Driving just really takes me back to my childhood playing these arcade style racers. Classic Sport Driving just really reminds me of some of the games I played as a kid on my first PC. I can't wait to tackle these roads, and if you like racing games, this could definitely be one to watch for.
5. SIK - Space Invader Creature - Available Now!
Release Date: Available Now (Early Access)

SIK really has a quality look, bringing a more rare multiplayer shooter in the indie space. We were impressed by the fun factor that this game seems to exude, as it tasks players to tackle an alien creature invasion with their friends. It is available now in Early Access.

7. Breaking Newton - Available Now!
Release Date: Available Now!
Developer: Doncokepon Games
Steam Wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1860710/Breaking_Newton/
Breaking Newton is a lot of fun. We got the rare opportunity to play the game before featuring it in this series. Most of the games we feature in IGRU are in development. It is nice to get the opportunity to try it out ahead of featuring here. We were given a review copy, and enjoyed the experience.
Breaking Newton is is a gravity based puzzle platformer. In place of the traditional jump button, the character goes up and down base on controlling the direction of gravity. It's can be hard at times, with difficulty spikes that will slap you in the face every now and then. Just when you find yourself going "ohh I think I got thi-..." you will hit a level where you die 20 times. So if you are in the mood for a dark souls gravity platformer, this is definitely a fun challenge to try out!
8. Shred and Tear - (UPDATE) Demo Incoming! + New Publisher! + New Trailer!
Release Date: Late 2022
Developer: Lucid Realm Games
Publisher: Shady Corner
Developer Description: "An ultraviolent, fast-paced, sexy and gory Hack n' Slash Single player game giving you heavy doses Adrenaline-rush with eye-candy fan service QTE and mecha-waifu."
(Update March 2022: We have seen some even more gameplay, a HD main menu clip, and a glimpse at the platforming of Shred and Tear and our excitement level couldn't be higher. We have word from Lucid Realm Games that a demo is coming very soon with plans being for sometime in the coming weeks, but we will update when we have our hands on the game. We could be seeing a playable version of the game very soon! Also, news dropped that Shady Corner is now stepping in as Publisher, alongside a brand new trailer!)
The absolutely insane graphics and quality art that Lucid Realm Games delivers was what first caught our eye for their upcoming game Shred and Tear. The 3D models they produce in UE4 is something I would expect from a AAA studio. Shred and Tear looks like a cross between Hell and Cyberpunk themes, with some Doom vibes as well. We don't have enough games with this style and look, and the mech warfare base promises to be interesting.
9. Velocity Noodle - Available Now!
Release Date: Available Now!
Developer: Shotgun Anaconda
Steam Wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1488650/Velocity_Noodle/
Developer Description: "...Feel like a speedrunner and discover routes, moves, and dodge traps to beat record times."
Have you ever watched a speed run of a game on Youtube and think that you could never be that good, or play that well. That's what I thought of when watching the trailer for Velocity Noodle. Velocity Noodle is a game that makes you feel like a speed runner. Everything about the gameplay is designed to help you learn and get better, and plays like a speed run. As someone who could never pull off something like a speed run, playing a game that looks like a "speed run simulator" is kind of intriguing to me. Aside from this selling point, the art style and gameplay in general look super fun and interesting. This is another game that is actually available now on this list, and we can't wait to get to it and let you all know how it goes. With a positive rating on Steam, we expect this to be a fun time indeed.
10. Surviving the Humans (Live Now On Kickstarter!)
Release Date: January 2023
Developer: Surprised Monkey Studio
Steam Wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1652460/Surviving_The_Humans/
Developer Description: "Surviving the Humans is a 2D point-and-click adventure-style video game. Face the humans, who will seek to eliminate you in any way, while you learn what it is to be a zombie"
Who wants to play a zombie game? Well what if I told you have only ever played "human games" plagued by zombies? In "Surviving the Humans", (perhaps the first ever zombie game?) You play from the zombie's perspective as you try to survive the deadly evil humans. So think...Season 4+ of Walking Dead when the humans got too good at zombie killing. Is this Avatar but for zombies instead of blue aliens?
11. Headless JEFF-3
Release Date: 2022
Developer: Insanity CORR
Steam Wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1721820/Headless_JEFF3/
Developer Description: "Embark on a chaotic adventure through dangerous gauntlets and complex puzzles, all from the perspective of your detached head!..."
Headless Jeff has quite the art style that hits the hits on fans of the steam punk / rustic robotics vibe. It reminds me of a more rusty version of the the 2005 "Robots" movie. We love a good robot centric story, as there are never enough robot protagonists.
Thanks!
